It's About Cataloging and Description

Since first becoming a collector of books and ephemera in 1994, Richard Gabriel, the founder of Calix Books  has consulted with professional bookdealers and experts in the trade. Everyone on our staff is a team player and believes that attention to detail is what counts. A book's or an ephemera item's description becomes the pedigree of that item and in many cases, more often than not, unique to the book or piece of ephemera

What Makes a Book Valuable?

A question that has plagued bookdealers and collectors for centuries. This question dates back to even the Roman and Greek times. The destruction of the great library in Egypt was considered to be one of the world's greatest tragedies as countless manuscripts and books were lost forever. Scarcity of a book does not necessarily mean it is valuable. While the book can be costly, a valuable book has a combination of qualities, much like fine art.
